Weekend!

Ramadan is tomorrow (Saturday)

Yesterday, Mohammed was over and there was tension in the air, so he left. A few minutes later, the door bell rang, I open the door to find a fanoos and a note.

Isn't he sweet? He's done that last year as well!

I haven't taken pictures yet, but I will.

One of the things I have yet to appreciate about Ramadan is the working hours! Where I work now, during ramadan we have a 5 hour working day! from 10-3! So, I have a plan that I hope I stick to: wake up at 7:30, go to the gym at 8, leave to work at 9:30 and then go back after iftar.

Now, I am heading to Alex, be back tomorrow :)

Spread some love today? Have a great weekend!

In Sweden, Ramadan is difficult for the muslims - the sun rises before 5 and goes down after 9 in the evening! And I just read in the paper that the Ramadan is moved back about a week every year (I remember my students had Ramadan in September 2 years ago) - so next year it won't be dark at all. Hm. They will have to have some sort of exception rule for the Nordic countries I think. Further north, the sun doesn't set at all.

10-3? nice! In the US, I don't think they ever change the working hours, no matter for Christians, Muslims, Jews,etc... -sigh- I guess one of the downers about living in a "melting pot"!
And ah that's so cute about Mohammed!

Living in the middle east too I can actually understand! Today was our last time having lunch at the mall after church before the restaurants close tomorrow until each evening. It's a good reminder that we are after all in their country. We can see the culture. We have visited some Ramadan tents and it is so fun and welcoming!

That was so sweet. What a guy!

love,
Cait

Bumped into your blog via a post about your love story. :) It was written in a such a catch, adorable manner, that I had to click in and see what your blog was all about.

Your man really does seem perfect. :) Have a great weekend!

The idea of going to the gym first thing in the morning when you can't drink any water for the next 8 or 9 hours just sounds horrific, really.

What happens for people who, for medical or health reasons (a diabetic, say, or someone quite ill or who needs to take medication at certain times or what-have-you) need to eat or at least take liquids throughout the day? Are there specific rules/exceptions for that kind of thing?
