Strangers and Time

January has issues with her mother, February is always talking about what he wants to do while March does them, April eats sweets and May pays for them, June is the oldest but not the wisest and July always has an opinion on everything. August never stops trying do the right thing, even if he doesn't always know what that is. September once saw something so sad, she never stopped crying. October holds the lift for anyone, vice-presidents and street-sweepers alike (for his memory, not for theirs) and November makes fun of him for this. December is tired but always hopeful. He has never once stopped believing.
Monday's obviously a bastard, quite literally as dad can't remember what or who he was doing. Tuesday's temperamental but ok as long as you stay on her good side. Wednesday doesn't say much and Thursday sometimes hums just to break the silence. They're in love. Friday's always wasted and her and Saturday hold each tightly other until their delirium fades.
But Sunday, Sunday knows she's the end. But she closes her eyes, and she pretends with all the strength in her tiny heart that really, she's the dawn.

Do you ever have encounters with strangers that leave you wondering for the whole day? A nice gesture from a perfect stranger or making eye contact with someone at the mall and not looking away. You know? That kind of thing...does it ever happen to you? Yesterday this person was nice to me. And I can still remember them today.
Thank you stranger :)

I am currently distant teaching Mohammed how to cook, and following up and it's so much fun! It makes me smile how cute he is taking, very carefully, instructions!

I love that. Probably mostly because my name is a month, and I love the personifications of them.

I like the characterization for December the best...tired, but always hopeful. For some reason that sounds accurate.

This is quite interesting, I wonder how you thought of it!

Strangers are quite something, aren't they? They seem to come and go in and out of life, you'll never really ever know anything about them. Sometimes you don't even need to know anything about them. This is why I don't like when people harshly judge others, you never will know what a stranger has seen, or what a stranger has been through.
I often wonder if I've seen the same stranger more than once.

yess that happens to me all the time! sometimes if a stranger does something nice and seems mysterious or keeps me wondering about them the rest of the day, I think might be angels or something =)

Beautifully written, per usual.

And brief encounters, especially accompanied by random acts of kindness, are lovely. They should happen more!

Gorgeous writing, you are so talented! And you know what, I remember seeing this really chic, hip woman one time on the loooooong escalator at the Atlanta airport when I was little, and she winked at me. And I felt so special, and I have never forgotten it. Spread the love!

Beautiful! Sometimes I meet strangers and know that if I had more time I could be good friends with them. A lovely smile can always make me feel good.

That's so good. June and I are definitely the same.
I am always always always seeking out connections with strangers and constantly pondering them. It's so crazy to think that everyone that passes you on the street has the same kind of dreams, hopes, love, LIFE as you do. Truly mind boggling to think of.

What kinds of things are you teaching your beloved to cook?! So cute.

The wedding was just the reception - the contractual part was private. We got to do the blessings and the prayers and everything though. It was so lovely, although I have never seen so many boiled eggs in my life!!!

i've definitely had encounters like that! in fact this morning, it was as simple as the car behind me letting me merge in and go in front of him... it was such a simple gesture (although it rarely happens nowadays) but it totally made my morning better! :D

Ah, what an amazing way to think about the months and days of the week. I was born in August and I suppose the description fits me!

And I know what you mean about those nice encounters with perfect strangers - anytime someone holds open a door for me even though I'm trailing 10 seconds behind them just lifts my heart up. Glad you had a good encounter with one, too :)

Ooo, and please teach us how to cook too! Haha, I'd love to learn some dishes! Hope you've had a great week so far :)

strangers are a mystery and that is what is so beautiful about them. Not knowing and wondering about them the entire day because they did something to you that made you feel special, in some sort of way.
what did you and the bf make for dins?i

Beautiful poem. And yes, with so many rude and ignorant people these days, it's so refreshing when someone takes the time to make eye contact and actually smile :)

What kind of royalties do I need to send to use that poem?

So good.

Anyway! Yes as well I get those eye long gazes with so many people and I can't stop from looking. And they look back, and then I look away, and it becomes a never ending spiral. I start to make up back stories for all of them.

Peoples lives just intrigue me

Hi Sara, hope you're well. I love the poem, reminds me of that song from The Cure...

I don't care if Monday's blue
Tuesday's gray and Wednesday too
Thursday I don't care about you
It's Friday, I'm in love

Monday you can fall apart
Tuesday, Wednesday break my heart
Oh, Thursday doesn't even start
It's Friday I'm in love

Saturday, wait
And Sunday always comes too late
But Friday, never hesitate...

I don't care if Mondays black
Tuesday, Wednesday - heart attack
Thursday, never looking back
It's Friday, I'm in love

Monday, you can hold your head
Tuesday, Wednesday stay in bed
Or Thursday - watch the walls instead
It's Friday, I'm in love

Saturday, wait
And Sunday always comes too late
But Friday, never hesitate...

Dressed up to the eyes
It's a wonderful surprise
To see your shoes and your spirits rise
Throwing out your frown
And just smiling at the sound
And as sleek as a sheik
Spinning round and round
Always take a big bite
It's such a gorgeous sight
To see you eat in the middle of the night
You can never get enough
Enough of this stuff
It's Friday, I'm in love

I don't care if Monday's blue
Tuesday's gray and Wednesday too
Thursday I don't care about you
It's Friday, I'm in love

Monday you can fall apart
Tuesday, Wednesday break my heart
Thursday doesn't even start
It's Friday I'm in love

That piece of writing is so nice and calming, beautiful ending. :)

I LOVE it when people are kind for no reason, complete strangers are just really nice. It makes my day and I always try to say nice stuff and do nice stuff for people. I really makes me love people :)
