Manic Monday


  1. I am done with the semester.
  2. I am done with presenting my paper at the young scholars conference.
  3. I still have to go to work.
  4. I need a break
  5. This is killing me!


So, for a change, today I am taking my brother and my cousin's son out, since I no longer have to study/go to class after work!
I found this through here.

I am reading الصياد و اليمام by ابراهيم عبدالمجيد . He also wrote " No One Sleeps in Alexandria" which I read in English. I express myself better in English, I think in English...I read quicker in English and it's a shame that I don't master my own language...

So I am reading an Arabic book!

i know what you mean about not being able to do as well in your own language as in english. i am in the same boat. at least in arabic you have material to read. in my language, there is little that is worth reading!

Do you speak English normally or do you speak Arabic normally, or is it half-and-half? (Do pardon my ignorance)

Mondays are nice.. better than tuesdays and wednessdays..
did you ever forget which day it is..

cause sometimes it doesnt make sense.. what is the difference between monday and tuesday and wednessday .. what if we re-name them.. you know something. i believe all these days are made to lead to the weekend.. but what if the weekend is just a normal day.. then all the days would be equal .. isnt that correct..

anyway.. enjoy your day ..

Congratulations on wrapping up the semester!

Isn't it so strange how we "think" in our language? I've thought about it before. Do we really think in our language, what are these words? Or is it a universal code, that anyone could attempt to understand?

I would love to learn another language.

I am in Norway at the moment, Couchsurfing, and just today I was telling my host about On The Road, because she had mentioned getting 'the itch' to get up and just go and explore. So, I was telling her about the book, and of course I thought of you.
I take it you liked it, then? Have you finished it??

I no longer have to study/go to class anymore!! yay!
I went to Arabic school for about 3 years when I was back in Nigeria. It sucks that I can't remember most of it. I wish I could.
I have an Arabic Qur'an that just sits there while I read my English one. :(

I have never read "I wrote this for you", but I'm interested.

I know how you feel about the language bit. The national language in Malaysia is Malay. And my Malay is actually atrocious! When I start speaking Malay people usually either start laughing or tell me to stop altogether! I can't help it, I think in English! LOL

Yay! Congrats on being done with your semester and presenting your paper :) but I do hope you get a well-deserved break ... and major kudos for reading an Arabic book! I have the third Harry Potter book in Polish which I want to read this summer ... it's my second language but I want to master it more, as wel. Hope you have a great rest of the week! :)

Hey sara i need your helppppp....

Ive going through your blog and apperantly you spend a hell alot of time in alexandria.. i am supposed to be shipped there on sunday i will staying at a hotel. i dunno what the hell its called i think its marie jollie. something like that the company puts us in the wierd things.. i will have a couple of days before i actually start work in a God forsakin place called IDKO.. they say its close to alexandria.. but my experience in alexandria is only marina.. i will have some of my friends (Mainly italians who work with me ) and they would expect me to take them out so can you help me with suggestions..

I would be very greatfull

My friend asked me a similar question the other day, and as I live in the UK, speak English almost all the time, I think in English. My cantonese is good but unfortunately I didn't stay at chinese school for long enough to be able to read chinese fluently! My one regret!

Oh I remember when I used to be able to read like a champ in Arabic, if you don't keep up with it, it's so hard. I try to read the newspaper in Arabic online everyday but I forget to sometimes! Sounds like a good book!
