Please Find Me

We lost yesterday..
And I am having issues...not because of the match/game yesterday, but because of job/career issues.

I need to find my calling. I have been offered a job at the school where my brother and sister go. My mum also works there and I've worked there before (but as a co-teacher, the offer I got: home-room teacher) I have to admit that being a teacher was the most fulfilling job I've ever taken so far, but if I go back to that this would mean:
  • I get paid much, much less.
  • I am around my mother more than I would like to be.
  • I am more dependant on my parents' money
  • I am actually taking a step back.
On a positive note:
  • I am around cute children all day
  • I get TONS of days off
  • 8-3 working day
  • I can go back to the gym
  • More time to study for my masters
  • A nice working environment!
I am obviously not happy with my current job despite the nice pay and not having to do much anyway...
I need to find my calling! How do you do that?

So yes, tonight we celebrate my cousin's 23rd birthday and we're going to Sequoia! That's probably highlight of my week, I love this place! I need to post pictures soon! Come the weekend and I will!

Some pretty photos to make up for the whining:

I wish I could help girl. I need to find my calling, too. You will for sure as well find your way in life. We all do at some point. I hope. ;)

finding your calling.. hmm.. well i just tried different things and reflected until i found one that truly made me happy. I decided that pay wasn't as important as getting to do what i TRULY love and having work/life balance so that i could still spend time with friends and family and go on vacation, etc. It'll come to you.. don't worry :) you've already made the first step.. weighing out the pros and cons!

It's a hard decision. I've found that sometimes I just have to make a decision and jump not knowing what's going to happen. It sounds like you love teaching, and I'm a huge proponent of doing what you love, even if it doesn't pay well, even if it will be difficult. But don't take a stranger's advice, do what you feel is best.

And yay pretty pictures always do the trick!

I, personally, have no career aspirations at all. I work because I need health insurance, and that's about it. I don't want to go study anything with the aim of getting into some field or another, and I'm not particularly interested in any sorts of things that one really gets paid and health-insured to do. I lack, it might be said, ambition. Completely. (and really, I'm okay with that)

So I guess what I'm really saying is, not everyone has a "calling" -- and you don't have to go frantically rushing around to try and "find" yours. You can, I suspect, just do what pleases you for now, for now. And later, you can always do something else.

I've been in that boat and I decided to leave my job for the lowest paying but very fulfilling gig of SAHM. Ah ha. Best of luck with your decision!

These are lovely. and hmm I think you just have to think it through properly. I would say take the job, because it's not permanent, and despite the less pay, you get more fulfillment and more time to yourself.

Have fun at Sequoia and fuhgeddabout (brooklyn accent haha) your troubles =)

I hope you you figure it out. I'm sure you will.

Also, I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one thinking of strange ways people are secretly talking to me.

Aww dear one, it sounds so hard to choose. right?
But Sara dear. please consider this; there is no "particular" difference. all at the end will look the same. it's just you. you and your daily amount of happiness. just go on. and don't think about details. what ever you choose, that would be awesome, because YOU have chosen it.

Love you!

sometimes it takes much time than we wanted but you'll find your way. i just wished everybody would recognize how important and necessary is a teacher's work. teachers should have the highest salaries, really. good luck to you.

You will find your calling eventually. I think we all go through that point which feels a little like limbo. I know I will feel the same when I finish my masters.
